Roy Vliese (of counsel)

Roy is associated with KWPS as of counsel. Since studying tax law at the University of Amsterdam, Roy has specialised in withholding taxes (wage tax, national insurance premiums, employee insurance premiums and income-related healthcare insurance contributions). Roy started his career as inspector at the Dutch Tax authorities and continued his career with KPMG Meijburg & Co. Since then, he has gained more than 18 years’ experience in the area of withholding taxes.

Roy advises both national and international clients. In addition, he regularly comments on legislative bills. He has extensive experience in supporting clients with tax audits and agreeing rulings on withholding taxes with the Tax authorities. Roy also has extensive experience in conducting administrative appeals, appellate proceedings and appeals to higher courts. He has also broad experience in (vendor) due diligences and (re)structuring projects. In addition, Roy has specialist knowledge in the area of ‘equity-based’ remuneration in both national and cross-border situations.

At KWPS, Roy is as trainer associated with the Academie voor Advocaten (Lawyer Academy).

Roy is lid van:

• Member of the Dutch Association of Tax advisers (‘NOB’)
• Member of the NOB’s board for Withholding taxes
• Member of the Core group for Introduction to Wage tax, Turnover tax, State Taxes Act and Collection of State Taxes Act at Nyenrode Business University

Roy is responsible for various publications (including Praktijkblad Salarisadministratie, Loon, Aanspraak and FD). He is also member of the editorial team of the ‘Personeel en fiscus’ handbook.
